I guess it is slowly being proved that building applications with no business purpose serves no purpose. The LMS nuvvo is now officially on sale, after its rapid launch, a number of bloggers predicted that it wasn't doing to last and sure enough.
Michael happily nominated it into the deadpool, he claims that Fighting Open Source Competition May Be Foolish!
Why? Writing a cool gig is nice, writing a free gig is awesome but a gig with no business plan or purpose is bound to fail except if you fall within the lucky stack, so its best to go with something that has some sort of business model that sounds and looks feasible with a reasonably way to making profit.
I have posted before that I will be launching several web applications in the near future and it just so happens that one of them (CourseOutlet) is within the same field as nuvvo but different and with a business model, revenue plan and a purpose. Without going into too much details, sign up for the beta notification and keep an eye on it.
