Google has recently launched their SOAP Search API service.

With the Google SOAP Search API service, software developers can query billions of web pages directly from their own computer programs. Google uses the SOAP and WSDL standards so a developer can program in his or her favorite environment - such as Java, Perl, or Visual Studio .NET.

I can currently smell a boat load of applications/mashups popping out for google API. I'm currently writing down some ideas, let me know if you guys have any. This is going to be interesting - as large as google easy!

It's easy to get started in 3 steps.

1.   Download the developers kit

2.    Create a new google account - if you don't have one. You need a license key and it also entitles you to 1000 queries per day.

3.   Start developing using the API and license. Have fun!
