AjaxOS

Thursday, April 27, 2006 10:14 PM

What? I have no idea what ajaxlaunch is up to but they are sure launching Ajax applications like a bus on a daily route - constantly as promised. However, what are their goals - what is the purpose of their rapid deployment? Are the applications any good to the web or ajax lovers society?

Recently they unveiled a sneak preview to their new so called AjaxOS at the desktop linux summit:

ajaxOS is a Linspire-based operating system with some revolutionary new features to support the adoption of web-based software. Some of the cool new things you can expect to see on ajaxOS include:

Automatic launch of AJAX software when clicking on a supported filetype.

Ability to save files to virtual storage.

Ability to navigate through a file browser to the files uploaded to virtual storage as well those on your local computer

Really? Since they came public I've been keeping an eye on them and I still haven't seen anything worth keeping or using. Not that I'm a hater, but I want something really useful - no buzzes, I need usefulness. I'll rather you spend ages building a solid application than build a no-use application in a week.

Ok, AjaxWrite - word on the web - ok its free, now what? The last time I checked wordpad was free! That goes for all the other applications, I do get the point "Free apps on the web" but the apps are all useless to me or I may be wrong? I love their attitude, I'm still waiting for that sky breaking app that will knock me off my shoes.
